April 08, 1857:   INDIAN MUTINY OF 1857 - Mangal Pandey, one of the first, foremost and the most revered revolutionaries and freedom fighters of India, was hanged by the British India authorities to his martyrdom on this day.

For Delhi and North India, Nadir Shah was a synonym of calamity, much more dangerous than any natural calamity. In Punjab, the mothers used to tell their children to stop non-sense lest Nadir Shah should come.
