April 08, 1929:   Batukeshwar Dutta, along with Bhagat Singh, hurled and exploded few bombs in the Central Legislative Assembly in New Delhi from its public gallery while it was in session. The objective was not to kill but to spread fear and terror. They along with their other associates, viz. Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Singh Thapar were arrested and convicted of their crime, facing the death sentence as verdict.
April 08, 1950:   Delhi Pact was signed by and between Jawaharlal Nehru of India and Liaquat Ali Khan of Pakistan, to deal with the refugee rehabilitation and settlement situation in both countries after partition.
April 08, 1857:   INDIAN MUTINY OF 1857 - Mangal Pandey, one of the first, foremost and the most revered revolutionaries and freedom fighters of India, was hanged by the British India authorities to his martyrdom on this day.

April 08, 1984:   SPORTS - CRICKET:   Era of Neutral Umpiring started on this day with Dickie Bird of England and Shakoor Rana of Pakistan acting as the first neutral umpires in one day cricket, who stood in a match between India and Sri Lanka at Sharjah.
April 08, 1985:   BHOPAL GAS LEAK DISASTER:   On this day, India filed a suit against Union Carbide for the gas-leak disaster which killed an estimated 3,000 and injured another about 500.000.
