In 1950s, S D Burman teamed up with Dev Anand's Productions to create several musical hits like Driver, Nau do (1957) and Kala (1958).

One of the most famous songs sung by Talat Mahmood was " jiske liye....."

The song "Mera Beet Gaya ..." sung by Dutt was her breakthrough song into the film industry.

In 1957, S D Burman fell out with and adopted her younger sister Asha Bhosle as his lead female singer.
