INDIAN ANTARCTIC PROGRAMME December 06, 1981:   The first ever Indian expedition (DAKSHIN GANGOTRI) to the Antarctica left Goa on this day. The team led by Dr. S.Z. Quasim reached Antarctica on this day, where a research station called "Dakshin Gangotri" was set up.
