However, the district court on this day declared Kamala Kinnar's election as "null and void" because the mayor's seat was reserved for a 'woman' belonging to scheduled caste category. Same thing had happened earlier in 2003 with Kamla Jaan, elected in 1999 as Mayor of katni in Madhya Pradesh.
