INDIA - NATIONAL FLAG TIRANGA - TRICOLOUR January 26, 1950:   The flag of the Indian dominion was retained as the flag of the Republic of India. January 26, 2002:   As per Supreme Court of India directives,  the Government of India amended the Indian Flag Code with effect from this day, allowing private citizens to hoist the flag on any day of the year, subject to their safeguarding the dignity, honour and respect of the flag.
