June 23, 1985 - Air India Flight 182 was an Air India flight operating on the Montreal, Canada–London, UK–Delhi, India route. On this day, the Boeing 747-237B "Emperor Kanishka" serving the flight was destroyed by a bomb at an altitude of 31,000 feet (9,400 m). It crashed into the Atlantic Ocean while in Irish airspace. A total of 329 people were killed, the majority of the victims were Canadian citizens of Indian ancestry. Canadian law enforcement determined that the main suspects in the bombing were members of the Sikh militant group Babbar Khalsa.
