INDIA - RAJASTHAN March 30, 1949:   It was formed on this day; till then the region was known as Rajputana, consisting of erstwhile 18 princely states, two chiefships and the British district of Ajmer-Merwara. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel inaugurated the Union of Greater Rajasthan at Jaipur, India.
