INDIA - DEFENCE - NUCLEAR POWER Pokhran Nuclear Tests May 28, 1998:   Pakistan responded to a series of nuclear tests by India with five of its own. It is speculated that actually the devices tested were made by China and all this was done as a show off of Pakistan's nuclear capability. It prompted the United States, Japan, and other nations to impose economic sanctions on Pakistan.
