INDIAN RAILWAYS November 18, 2016:   The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, addressed on this day the inaugural session of the Rail Vikas Shivir through video conferencing. The three day Rail Vikas shivir was held at Surajkund, Haryana. The aim of the progrmme was to generate innovative ideas across most critical areas of Railway Operations for substantial progress in this sector, with special focus on themes which included making Railways the preferred freight carrier in India, using best-in-class technology, moving towards near zero fatalities, cost reduction and increasing the non-fare revenues from advertising, etc. The shivir brainstorming sessions involved all levels of railway employees from gangman to Railway Board Chairman.
