1984 ANTI-SIKH RIOTS October 31, 1984 - November 03, 1984 October 31, 1984:   The news about Indira Gandhi having been killed by her own guards, who were sikhs, started spreading like wild fire. Rajiv Gandhi and the President Zail Singh visited the AIIMS hospital. Emotion filled, organized and well equipped gangs of ruffians started setting out in different directions from AIIMS. The violence towards Sikhs and destruction of Sikh properties erupted. Rajiv Gandhi is sworn in as the Prime Minister.
