  • August 10, 2015:   All tests passed. Pre-shipment review successfully completed.
  • September 28, 2015:   ASTROSAT Launched and placed into the orbit successfully.
  • April 15, 2016:    The satellite has completed its performance verification and started its operations.
Description
  • India's first dedicated space observatory.
  • It was launched on PSLV-C30, from the space port of Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
  • It is aimed at studying celestial objects.
  • PSLV-C30 carried Astrosat along with six other co-passengers, one satellite each from Indonesia and Canada, and four nano satellites from the US. The Mission Director Jai Kumar elucidated on the steps taken to make it a successful mission.
