Mar 13, 2001: He has been living in India ever since
this day, on a visitor's visa which was extended from time to
time.
Dec 15, 2002: BBC World Service celebrated 70 years
of broadcasting by organizing a worldwide live concert with
artists representing different parts of the world who performed
before a global audience via satellite. He was chosen to
represent India.
Jan 29, 2010: After having suffered divorce twice,
he married for the third time on this day with an Afghan-origin
German girl, Roya Sami Khan.
May 26, 2015: He submitted a request for Indian
citizenship to India's Home Ministry, when his Pakistani
passport expired and was not renewed by Pakistan's government.
Jan 01, 2016: Erstwhile Pakistani citizen, he was
granted Indian citizenship with effect from this day following
his request to the centre to legalise his status in the country
on humanitarian grounds.
May 07, 2018: Via his tweet on this day, he claimed
that his staff members were mistreated and called "Indian dogs"
at the Kuwait airport immigration. External Affairs Minister
Sushma Swaraj reportedly took note of the matter.
He was in Kuwait for a live performance when his staff members
faced this humiliation.
