- 1928 Summer Olympics:
- May 17, 1928 - On this day, the
Indian team made its Olympic debut against Austria,
winning 6-0, with Dhyan Chand scoring 3 goals.
- May 18, 1928 - India defeated
Belgium 9-0; however Dhyan Chand only scored one.
- May 20, 1928 - Denmark lost to
India 5-0, with Dhyan Chand netting 3 goals.
- May 22, 1928 - He scored 4 goals
when India defeated Switzerland 6-0 in the semi-finals.
- May 26, 1928 - In the final match,
India faced the home team of the Netherlands, when the
best of Indian players were ill so they could not play.
However, even then India managed to defeat the hosts 3-0
and the Indian team won the first Olympic gold
medal. Dhyan Chand was the top scorer of the
tournament, scoring 14 goals in 5 matches.
- 1932 Summer Olympics:
- May 30, 1932 - The India team set
sail for San Francisco for the 1932 Summer Olympics.
- July 06, 1932 - The India team
reached San Francisco for the 1932 Summer Olympics.
- July 30, 1932 - Opening ceremony of
the Olympics took place on this day.
- August 04, 1932 - India played its
first match against Japan and won 11-1.
Dhyan Chand, Roop Singh, Gurmit Singh each scored
thrice.
- August 11, 1932 - In the final
match, India played against hosts USA. India won
24-1, a world record at that time,
and once again clinched the gold medal. Dhyan Chand
scored 8 times, Roop Singh 10, Gurmit Singh 5 and
Pinniger once. In fact, Dhyan Chand along with his brother
Roop, scored 25 out of the 35 goals scored by India.
- 1936 Summer Olympics:
- July 13, 1936 - The Indian team
reached Berlin on this day for the 1936 Summer
Olympics.
- July 17, 1936 - Indian team played
a practice match against Germany and lost 4-1.
- August 05, 1936 - India won its
first match against Hungary 4-0. India won the rest of
the group matches against USA (7-0, with Chand scoring 2
goals) and Japan (9-0, with Chand scoring 4).
- August 10, 1936 - In the semi-final
against France, India defeated 10-0, with Dhyan Chand
scoring 4 goals.
- August 15, 1936 - In the final
match, India defeated Germany 8-1, with
Dhyan Chand ending up as top-scorer with 3 goals.
- 1951 - Captain Dhyan Chand was honoured
at the National Stadium - with Dhyan Chand
tournament.

autobiography of Hockey wizard Dhyan Chand,

him by awarding him the Padma Bhushan.
