arrived in India on October 26, 2015. |
|
Description &
Developments |
- Geeta was 7 or 8-years-old when she was found sitting
alone in the Samjhauta Express at Lahore station by the
Pakistan Rangers 15 years ago.
- She was then adopted by Edhi
Foundation's Bilquis Edhi.
- Her story came to light after the
release of Salman Khan-starrer 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' in which
the hero reunites a Pakistani girl with her mother.
- But she failed to recognise a family which she had
initially identified from photographs, as her parents.
- The Govt of India "whole-heartedly" thanked Pakistani
government for bringing her up and allowing her homecoming.
- Blood samples of Geeta as well as the contender parents
claiming her to be their daughter had been taken and sent
for DNA testing.
- Geeta has been staying in a facility run by Muk-Badhir
Sangathan, an NGO, here. The MP Social Justice Department is
her caretaker.
