Description
Lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, is
widely worshipped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good
fortune.
Traditionally Lord Ganesha is preached at the beginning
of any new venture or at the start of travel.
This festival is celebrated all over India with great
fervour.
But it is celebrated more elaborately in Maharashtra,
Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha
and Chhattisgarh.
The festival lasts for 10 days, ending on Anant
Chaturdashi (fourteenth day of the waxing moon period).
It is also celebrated vigorously in Nepal and Hindus all
over the world.
Every part of the figure of Lord Ganesha, which is
perhaps the most styled figure in the history of the world,
is an indicator of a specific message for the humanity. For
example:
Big Head – Think big.
Large ears – Listen more.
Smaller eyes – Concentrate more
deeply.
Small mouth – Talk less.
Extra hands - Power of protection
from evil.
One tusk - Retain all good but
throw away all bad.
Trunk – High efficiency and
adaptability.
Modak (in one of the left hands) –
Rewards yielded by saadhana.
Large stomach – Peacefully digest
all good as well as bad in life.
The mouse – Ride your ego and keep
it under control before the ego starts riding you and
controlling you. Ego, if left uncontrolled, can create
havoc in one’s life.

The whole world could be at your feet if all the
above-mentioned principles are adhered to.
