Title INDIA - FREEDOM STRUGGLE - BIBIGARH Massacre Date-wise Events July 15, 1857 - Siege of Cawnpore Description The Siege of Cawnpore was a key episode in the Indian rebellion of 1857.   This was one of the most notorious events of the Indian mutiny in 1857 when several ladies and children were massacred and thrown into a well in Bibigarh at Kanpur.           It is a story of Surrender and killing of the besieged East India Company forces, followed by recapture of Cawnpore and violent reprisals by the East India Company forces.
