- July 13, 2017: The
Maharashtra government has launched a scheme to cover
medical insurance of up to ₹10 lakh of 335 sitting
legislators, 837 former legislators, and their families.
This is reportedly aimed at curbing the use of fake bills in
the medical reimbursement scheme the legislators were
covered under earlier. The insurance scheme will cost the
state almost ₹10 crore a year.

Maratha Reservation Quota |
- Dec 05, 2018:
- The Bombay High Court refused to order an interim
stay on the Maharashtra government's legislation
providing reservation to Maratha community. In response
to the PIL challenging the legislation, the court agreed
for a detailed hearing on December 10 to all pending
petitions on the issue.
- Nov 30, 2018:
- The Governor of Maharashtra gave his nod to the bill
granting 16% reservation to Marathas in government jobs
and education in the state. This reservation is over and
above the existing reservation provided to OBCs, SCs,
STs, special backward categories. etc.
- Nov 29, 2018:
- The Maharashtra Legislature passed a bill proposing
16% reservation in education and government jobs
for Marathas, declared as socially and educationally
backward class by the government. The extent of
reservation in the state thus rose to 68 per cent, with
the passage of the bill. Marathas not in the 'creamy
layer' would be eligible for the reservations.
