Mar 01, 1852: |
The Medical College Hospital was opened on this day for sick
patients. |

Sep 30, 1848: |
The foundation stone for construction of a large central
hospital was laid on this day by Lord Dalhousie, the then
Governor-General of India. |

Jun 29, 1883: |
On this day admission of women into the CMC was allowed after
doing FA. Kadambini Ganguly, a Bengali Brahmo became
the first woman admitted to the CMC.

Oct 30, 1838: |
The first batch of qualified medical practitioners passed out in
the examination held on this day. |

Feb 20, 1835: |
The activities of the college were started on this day
with the process of admission of students.

Jan 28, 1835: |
The NMI was abolished and the medical classes at the Sanskrit
College and at the Madrasa were discontinued by the government
order of this date. A new college "Calcutta Medical College" was
thus established. 28 January is celebrated as the
college Foundation Day.

Oct 20, 1834: |
The committee appointed in the end of 1833 submitted its report
on this day when it recommended that various branches of medical
science cultivated in Europe should be taught in this college
and the NMI should be abolished. |

Jun 21, 1822: |
The Native Medical Institution (NMI) was established in
Calcutta, where medical teaching was imparted in the vernacular.

May 09, 1822: |
The government laid down a plan for the instruction of up to
twenty young Indians to fill the position of native doctors in
the civil and military establishments of the Presidency of
Bengal.
