Description |
- Information technology in India comprises mainly two
areas, viz. IT services and business process outsourcing
(BPO).
- This sector's contribution to India's GDP rose from from
1.2% in 1998 to 7.7% in 2017.
- According to NASSCOM, the sector aggregated revenues of
US$160 billion in 2017, with export revenue standing at
US$99 billion and domestic revenue at US$48 billion, growing
by over 13%.
- The United States accounts for two-thirds of India's IT
services exports.

PARAM Yuva II Supercomputer made by Centre for Development of
Advanced Computing (CDAC) in a period of three months, at a cost
of ₹160 million, was unveiled on this day. It was 10 times
faster than the existing ones

Jul 01, 1991: |
Supercomputer PARAM 8000 (made by C-DAC) was launched on this
day. It is considered India's first supercomputer. It was
indigenously built in 1991 by Centre for Development of Advanced
Computing and was replicated and installed at ICAD Moscow in
1991 under Russian collaboration. |
