Description |
- "Jana Gana Mana" is the national anthem of India.
- It was written in highly Sanskritised Bengali by the
poet Rabindranath Tagore and represents the first of five
stanzas of a Brahmo hymn composed and scored by him.
- The original poem written by Rabindranath Tagore was
translated into Hindi by Abid Ali, but it was slightly
different than the present final version. Tagore also wrote
down the English translation of the song.
- The romanized text of the song is reproduced
below:
- Jana-gaṇa-mana adhināyaka jaya he
- Bhārata bhāgya vidhātā
- Pañjāba Sindhu Gujarāṭa Marāṭhā
- Drāviḍa Utkala Baṅga
- Vindhya Himāchala Yamunā Gaṅgā
- Uchhala jaladhi taraṅga
- Tava śubha nāme jāge
- Tava śubha āśhiṣa mānge
- Gāhe tava jaya gāthā
- Jana gaṇa maṅgala dhāyaka jaya he
- Bhārata bhāgya vidhāta
- Jaya he, jaya he, jaya he
- Jaya jaya jaya, jaya he.
