- November 30, 2015: India
launched an International Solar Alliance (ISA) at the CoP21
Climate Conference here on this day, with an announcement by
Prime Minister Modi that the revolution in the field would
bring power to all citizens, and create unlimited economic
opportunity.
- November 16, 2016: All
India Radio announced on this day that over 20 countries,
including Brazil and France, signed the framework agreement
of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) an initiative that
is the brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The
framework agreement of ISA was opened for signatures on the
sidelines of CoP22 to the UN Framework Convention on Climate
Change at Marrakech, in Morocco.

Description |
ISA's Mission and
Vision: is to provide a platform for cooperation among
solar resource rich countries where global community including
bilateral and multilateral organizations, corporates, industry,
and stakeholders can make a positive contribution to the common
goals of increasing utilizing of solar energy in meeting energy
needs of ISA member countries in a safe, convenient, affordable,
equitable and sustainable manner.
ISA is an alliance of 121 solar resource-rich tropical countries
lying fully or partially between two tropics and who are also UN
members. It was jointly launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
and French President Francois Hollande at the CoP21 in Paris
last year where representatives from around 70 countries
participated. |
