- October 29, 2016: Delhi
Police has arrested the personal aide of a Samajwadi Party
(SP) Member of Parliament for passing on secret documents to
Mehmood Akhtar, the Pakistani spy arrested on Oct-27, 2016.
- Farhat, a personal staff of Rajya Sabha MP Chaudhary
Munawwar Saleem, was nabbed by cops on Friday night.
Police sources told CNN-News18 that Akhtar had confessed
that Farhat had given him important documents related to
MEA, defence and shipping ministries for almost two and
half years. Farhat has received two lakhs rupees for
this job in different installments, and he was
introduced to Akhtar by his predecessor Fiaz as an
important contact in Delhi.
- October 27, 2016:
Pak Staffer (Mehmood Akhtar) and two Indian residents (Maulana
Ramzan and Subhash Jangir) were arrested for spying.
- On
intelligence inputs, Delhi police crime branch took the Pak High
Commission staffer identified as Mehmood Akhtar in custody. He
was released after questioning as he enjoys diplomatic immunity.
The crime branch also arrested two persons, residents of
Rajasthan, for allegedly passing on sensitive information to the
staffer. “The spies are residents of Rajasthan working for
Pakistan’s ISI. The spies were in touch with the staff here at
Pakistan High Commission and were providing sensitive
information. Those arrested have been identified as Maulana
Ramzan and Subhash Jangir.
