- 1923: The outbreak of the Hindu-Muslim riot in 1923
made him ponder over an alternate model of nation-building
in India.
- September 27, 1925: He
founded the RSS (Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh) in Nagpur on
this day, with the intention of promoting the concept of a
united India deeply rooted in indigenous ideology.

- He actively participated in Indian National
Congress in the 1920s. But he got
disillusioned with their policies and politics. He was deeply influenced by the writings of

cultural and religious heritage of Hindus
should be the basis of Indian nationhood.
