started his Ram Rath Yatra from Somnath, Gujarat on this day
headed for Ayodhya linked to the Mandir-Masjid dispute
centred around Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid site at Ayodhya.

Rath Yatra reached Ayodhya on this day.
- September 11, 1993: Four
Yatras named Janadesh Yatra were started on this day from
four corners of country; he led this yatra from Mysore. The
purpose of Janadesh Yatra was to seek the people's mandate
against the two Bills, the Constitution 80th Amendment Bill
and the Representation of People (Amendment) Bill.

Rajnath Singh stated that after Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L.K.
Advani was the natural choice for Prime Ministership.

Advani would be its prime ministerial candidate for the
general elections due in 2009. However, INC won the general

- He began his political career as a volunteer of
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a right-wing Hindu nationalist
organisation, around 1947 in Karachi, which was then part of
India. He is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP).

power from 1998 to 2004 under Prime Minister Atal Bihari
Vajpayee, Advani served as Minister of Home Affairs; he
