- 1907: He was part of the
famous Lal Bal Pal trio, which consisted of Lala Lajpat Rai,
Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal, who together
formed a triad and advocated the Swadeshi movement involving
the boycott of all imported items and the use of Indian-made
goods in 1907.
- February 12, 1916: A
banquet was given in honour of Lala Lajpat Rai by the
California Chapter of the Hindustan Association of America
in Berkeley on this day.
- December 14, 1923: On this
day in The tribune, he was criticised for his remark
demanding "a clear partition of India into a Muslim India
and non-Muslim India."
- October 30, 1928: The
Indian political parties boycotted the Simon
Commission, because it did not include a single Indian in
its membership, and it met with country-wide protests. When
the Commission visited Lahore on this day, Lala Lajpat Rai
led silent march in protest against it. Consequently, he was
arrested and brutally lathi charged.
- July 17, 1934: Gulab Devi
Chest Hospital for women was opened on this day at
Lahore was established by a trust established by him in the
memory of his mother, Gulab Devi, who died here of
tuberculosis.
- 1959: The Lala Lajpat Rai
Trust was formed in 1959 on the eve of his Centenary Birth
Celebration, to promote education. The trust was founded by
a group of Punjabi philanthropists.
- December 01, 2010: A state
university was created in memory of Lala Lajpat Rai at
Hissar, in Haryana, where Lala Ji also practised and was
married. The university is named as Lala Lajpat Rai
University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Hissar and has
started functioning from this day.
- 1948: A statue of Lajpat
Rai stands at the central square in Shimla, India (having
been originally erected in Lahore and later moved to Shimla
in 1948).

- He is chiefly remembered as a leader in the Indian fight
for independence from the British Raj.
- He was popularly known as Punjab Kesari (Punjabi: The
Lion of Punjab).
- Lal-Bal-Pal, mobilized Indians across the country
against the Bengal partition.
- He was also associated with activities of Punjab
National Bank and Lakshmi Insurance Company in their early
stages.
- He sustained serious injuries by the police when leading
a non-violent protest against the Simon Commission and died
less than three weeks later.
- His death anniversary (November 17) is one of several
days celebrated as Martyrs' Day in India.
- Lajpat Nagar and Lajpat Nagar Central Market in New
Delhi, Lajpat Rai Market in Chandani Chowk, Delhi; Lala
Lajpat Rai Hall of Residence at Indian Institutes of
Technology (IIT) in Kanpur and Kharagpur; as well as the
Lala Lajpat Rai Institute of Engineering and
Technology(LLRIET), Moga, are named in his honour. Lala
Lajpat Rai Institute of Management is also one of the famous
B-schools in Mumbai.
