- He features in the doubles events
in the ATP Tour and the Davis Cup tournament.
- He has won eight doubles and
six mixed doubles Grand Slam titles and finished as
runner up in numerous other Grand Slam finals.
- He is considered to be one of the greatest and
most respected contemporary doubles and mixed
doubles players in the world.
- He is the oldest man to have won a grand slam
title.
- On Aug-03, 1996, he won a
bronze medal at the Atlanta Olympics and became the
First Indian to win a medal in an individual event
ever since K. Jadhav won a bronze medal in 1952
in wrestling.
- He and
Mahesh
Bhupathi became the first doubles
team to reach the finals of all four Grand Slams,
the first time such a feat has been achieved in the open era
and the first time since 1952. On 26 April, 1999,
they became the world no. 1 doubles team.
