- 1942: Her first appearance
was in movie Basant, which was a box-office success.
- 1947: In a lead role, she
made her debut in Neel Kamal. She was just fourteen when she
was given the lead role in the movie. This was also the last
film in which she was named as Mumtaz before assuming her
screen name Madhubala.
- 1960: She consolidated her
super-star status when she went on to appear in the epic
mega-budget historical, Mughal-e-Azam.
- 2004: A digitally-colorized
version of the original film 'Mughal-e-Azam' was released,
35 years after her death.
- 2008: A commemorative
postage stamp featuring Madhubala was issued. The only other
Indian film actress to be honoured in this manner is Nargis
Dutt.
- 2012: Her 1962 release
'Half Ticket' was also remastered, digitally coloured and
re-released.

movie actresses.
- Actress Devika Rani was impressed by her performances
and potential and advised her to assume the name Madhubala,
which meant "a woman of honey".
