- November 19, 1998: National
Security Council, which looks after the security of nation,
was established on this day by then Prime Minister of India,
Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
- March 04: Observance of
NATIONAL SECURITY DAY (RASHTRIYA SURAKSHA DIVAS).

Description |
- The day is also known as Rashtriya Suraksha
Diwas.
- On this day, India pays its honour for the security
forces who are responsible for monitoring and securing the
huge borders from enemies.
- The country will pay tributes to the martyrs who
sacrificed their life so that 1.25 billion people can sleep
peacefully.
- The day is not only dedicated to the elite forces, it is
a day when the nation pays tributes to all the security
forces including policemen, commandos, guards, army
officers, para-military forces and other persons involved in
security, who sacrificed their life for the safety of
nation.
- India ranks third in the world with 1.3 million active
personnel in the Indian Army, who not only secure the
borders, but also ensure safety for people in situations of
natural disasters and calamities.
- Regarded as one of the respected professions, India also
has world’s largest volunteer army.
