- February 1995: He filed a
writ petition in the Delhi High Court contesting the
restraints being placed on him to fly the Indian Tricolour,
and later disputed the government position in the Supreme
Court too.
- January 15, 2002: The
Indian Union Cabinet accepted the report of the Dr P.D.
Shenoy Committee set up on his initiatives and announced
that citizens will be free to fly the national flag on all
days of the year from January 26, 2002
onwards. The Government subsequently issued a new flag code
(Flag Code of India 2002) which contained guidelines for
flying the national flag.

January 23, 2004:
The Supreme Court of India ruled in favour of Jindal's
petition in regard to flying of the national flag by anyone
on any day.

March 31, 2005:
His father, O.P. Jindal, was serving as the Power Minister
in the Haryana government when he died on this day, in a
helicopter crash.

December 22, 2009:
The govt of India permitted monumental flags to be flown at
night too with appropriate illumination, contrary to the
requirement earlier that all flags should be lowered after
dusk.

February 18, 2010:
The Rules Committee of the Lok Sabha accepted his proposal
to allow MPs to display the national flag as a lapel pin
while seated in the House.

August 09, 2010:
The High Court in Bilaspur, observed that not lowering the
flag at night is not a violation of the Prevention of
Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.

September 2012:
Revelations alleged his involvement in the alleged Coalgate
scam. His company gained by making and selling power at high
prices.

October 25, 2012:
He held a press conference in which he showed video evidence
where it was clear that some officials of Zee News tried to
extort a sum Rs 1 billion from Jindal in return for not
running the story of Jindal being involved in the Coal scam.
Jindal filed a case against Zee News management and its
editors for extorting money. Two Zee News editors were sent
to jail and later released on bail.
- March 24, 2017: CBI has
filed a supplementary charge sheet naming five more persons
as accused in a coal scam case against Congress leader and
industrialist Naveen Jindal and others. The case also
involved ex-Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayan Rao
and ex-Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda as accused.
- Aug 14, 2018: A Delhi court
summoned him along with 14 others for alleged money
laundering in a case pertaining to irregularities in
allocation of a Jharkhand coal block. All the accused in the
case were ordered to appear before the Court on October 15.

- A former Member of Parliament (MP) from Kurukshetra,
Haryana. He represented Kurukshetra in the northern Indian
state of Haryana in the 14th and 15th Lok Sabha.
- He is the Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Limited, a
part of the $17 billion diversified O.P. Jindal Group
founded by his father.
- The University of Texas at Dallas renamed its School of
Management the Naveen Jindal School of Management in 2011.
- Along with his wife noted danseuse Shallu Jindal – he
founded the Flag Foundation of India, in their effort to
foster among Indian youth respect for the Tiranga.
- The concept of "monumental flags" was introduced in
India by Naveen Jindal. These gigantic flags are now flown
at several locations across India.
- He has also been a prominent player of skeet shooting
and he eaned a number national and international awards and
accolades.
