- 1885: She met Swami
Vivekananda in London.
- January 28, 1898: She
reached Calcutta, India.
- February 22, 1898: She
visited Dakshineshwar temple, the place where Ramakrishna
did his sadhana.
- March 11, 1898: Swami
Vivekananda organised a public meeting to introduce Sister
Nivedita to the people of Calcutta.
- March 17, 1898: She met
Sarada Devi, who greeted and accepted her as her daughter.
- March 25, 1898: Swami
Vivekananda gave her the name Nivedita (meaning "Dedicated
to God") when he initiated her into the vow of Brahmacharya
on this day.
- May 11, 1898: On this day, she
along with many others including Swami Vivekananda, set foot
for the Himalayas.
- June 05, 1898: On this day she
wrote a letter to her friend exclaiming India as the real
Holy Land.
- November 13, 1898: She opened a
girls' school in Bagbazar area of Calcutta. She wanted to
educate those girls who were deprived of even basic
education.
- 1899: During the plague
epidemic in Calcutta, she nursed and took care of the poor
patients.
- 1968: Indian Government
issued a postal stamp in her memory.· Her epitaph reads,
"Here reposes Sister Nivedita who gave her all to India".

soon after engagement.
