  • 1914:   Shortly before outbreak of world war-I, her family left Russia for London.
  • 1920:   Her family moved to France.
  • 1927:   He father died and she started to take care of the family. She began a career writing poetry and children's stories, and became a regular contributor to children's magazines and French radio.
  • 1939:   Her book, Twenty Jataka Tales was published in London.
  • June 22, 1940:   After the outbreak of world war - II, her family fled to England.
  •  November 19, 1940:   She joined the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF).
  • June 16, 1943:   She was sent to France on a spying mission as wireless operator.
  • October 13, 1943:   As a result of betrayal by one of her fellows, she was arrested and interrogated in Paris.
  • November 25, 1943:   She along with one of her fellows tried to esape but was recaptured.
  • November 27, 1943:   She was taken to Germany for safe custody under shackles.
  • September 11, 1944:  She was moved to a concentration camp to be executed two days later. Till then she did not reveal even a single piece of information.
  • 1949:   She was posthumously awarded the George Cross, and a French Croix de Guerre with silver star.
  • November 08, 2012:   The unveiling of the bronze bust by HRH The Princess Royal took place on this day in London.
  • March 25, 2014:   She was commemorated on a stamp issued by the Royal Mail on this day in a set of stamps about "Remarkable Lives".
