- August 28, 1965: Ranjit
Singh led the capture of the Haji Pir Pass on this day
(which was later returned to Pakistan after Tashkent
Agreement) by the Indian army during the 1965 war with
Pakistan.

the Lt. Governor of Puducherry on this day.
- February 19, 1990:
He retired as the Lt. Governor of Puducherry on this day.

became the Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands on this
