- August 04, 1932 - India played its
first match of the 1932 Summer Olympics against Japan and won 11-1.
Dhyan Chand, Roop Singh, Gurmit Singh scored 3 goals
each.
- August 11, 1932 - In the final
match, India played against hosts USA. India won
24-1, a world record at that time,
and once again clinched the gold medal. Dhyan Chand
scored 8 times, Roop Singh 10, Gurmit Singh 5 and
Pinniger once. In fact, Dhyan Chand along with his brother
Roop, scored 25 out of the 35 goals scored by India.

Commemoration |
- The Captain Roop Singh Stadium
in Gwalior, named after Singh, was
originally a hockey stadium before
it was converted into a cricket
venue in 1988.
- A street in Berlin was named
after him following his impressive
performance at the 1936 Olympics.
- He was also among the only three
Indian players, the others being
Dhyan Chand and Leslie Claudius to
have the tube stations in London
renamed in the run-up to the 2012
Summer Olympics.
