- 1869 to 1885: Practised as
advocate at Madura.
- January 01, 1877: The Government
awarded a Certificate of Merit to Subramania Iyer on this
day as a mark of their appreciation of his services to the
public, on the occasion of the Proclamation Durbar at Delhi.
- 1884: was nominated a
member of the Legislative Council of Madras by the
Government.
- 1890: He was appointed a
Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire.
- 1891: He was
appointed a judge in the Madras High Court.
- 1893: He had the title of
Dewan Bahadur conferred upon him.
- January 01, 1900: He was
elevated to a Knight-Commander of the Order of Indian Empire
on this day.
- November 13, 1907: He also
served as the first Indian Chief Justice of the Madras High
Court, before retiring on this day.
- September 01, 1916: He
agreed to serve as the Honorary President of the All India
Home Rule League established in Madras on this day, by
Mrs. Annie
Besant.
- June 16, 1917: As President
of the League, he took up the cause of
Mrs. Besant
and her colleagues after his arrest ordered on this day by
the then Governor of Madras.
