- October 07, 2010: The
project was first announced on this day.
- October 31, 2013: The then
Chief Minister of Gujarat
Narendra Modi, (currently Prime
Minister of India) laid the foundation stone of statue
onthis day, the 138th birth anniversary of Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel. He along with L. K. Advani announced to
the public that after completion of the project, it will be
the tallest statue of the world.
- December 15, 2013: The
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust of Gujarat
organised "Run for Unity" across the country on this day to
promote the world's longest "Statue of Unity" of Sardar
Patel. The 'Run for Unity' was held at 562 places, the
number being that of the princely states Patel integrated
into the Indian union in 1947.
- October 27, 2014: Indian
infrastructure company Larsen & Toubro bagged the contract
on this day for its lowest bid of ₹2,989 crore
(US$440 million) for the design, construction and
maintenance.
- October 31, 2014: L&T
commenced the construction on this day and is expected to
complete it by 2018. The construction of 'Shrestha Bharat
Bhavan' an integral part of the Statue of Unity project,
also started on this day.
- October 31, 2015: A 30 feet
statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was unveiled by Gujarat
Chief Minister Anandiben Patel in capital Gandhinagar on
this day to mark his 140th birth anniversary. The statue is
a scaled down replica of the proposed 182-feet 'Statue of
Unity' to come up near Sardar Sarovar Dam in South Gujarat.

landmark statue dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,hailed
as the Iron Man of India.
- The Statue of Unity will be the world's tallest statue.
- A viewing gallery at around 500 feet will provide
visitors a spectacular view of the Sardar Sarovar dam and
its environs.
