- July 26, 1876 - He founded the Indian
National Association (INA) which was
intended to be the centre of an all - India political
movement.
- December 28-30, 1883 - The first
session of the National Conference, sponsored by INA, was
held in Calcutta, which was attended by more than a hundred
delegates from different parts of India.
- December 28, 1885 - the first session
of the Indian National Congress was held in Bombay, Banerjea
could not attend due to certain pre-occupations..
- 1886 - INA was merged into Indian
National Congress; He was elected the Congress
President in Poona.
- 1879 - He founded the
newspaper, The Bengalee.
- 1902 - He was elected the
Congress President in Ahmedabad.
- 1905 - He was in the forefront of the
movement against partition of Bengal in 1905.
- 1912 - His persistent efforts and
full-fledged support of all sections of Indian society,
finally compelled the British to reverse the bifurcation of
Bengal in 1912.

midway between those with extremist
