  • March 07, 2006:   2006 - Varanasi Bombings - a series of bombings that occurred across the Hindu holy city of Varanasi in India on this day. At least 28 people were reported to have been killed and as many as 101 others were injured.
  • March 08, 2006:   A member of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit was shot dead in an encounter with police near Lucknow on this day.
Description  The blasts took place  near crowded Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple near the Banaras Hindu University and at the railway station. Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit were prima facie behind the blasts in Varanasi.
