•The
Creation of Taliban goes back to 1979, when the Soviet Union
invaded Afghanistan. In 1973, The Soviet Union brought their
soldiers into Afghanistan claiming to rebuild the crushing
economy. However, the Soviet was resented by the Mujahidin
(from whom the Taliban evolved from).
•The
Taliban is a predominantly Pashtun, Islamic fundamentalist
group that ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001, when a
U.S.-led invasion toppled the regime for providing refuge to
al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.
•Tehrik-i-Taliban
Pakistan - Taliban Movement of Pakistan, alternatively
referred to as the Taliban, is a terrorist group which is an
umbrella organization of various militant groups based in
the northwestern Federally Administered Tribal Areas along
the Afghan border in Pakistan.
•The
Taliban disagreed with past Afghan statutes that allowed the
employment of women in a mixed sex workplace. They claimed
this was a breach of purdah and sharia law.
