He made his debut with the film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai in 2001.  He received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his work in the film. He acted alongside his father Jeetendra in the film Kucch To Hai (2003). He was a participant in the 2012 "Fashion for a Cause" event which raised money for homeless children. His mother is Shobha Kapoor, a film and television producer, and his sister is Ekta Kapoor, a television producer.
