- 1976: He was honoured with
PADMA BHUSHAN Award by the Govt of India.
- 1984: He took over as the
Chairman of ISRO.
- 1994: He retired as the
Chairman, ISRO.
- March 19, 2013: He was
inducted into the Satellite Hall of Fame, Washington on this
day at a ceremony organised by the Society of Satellite
Professionals International. With this he became the first
Indian to be inducted.
- May 15, 2016: He was
inducted in International Astronautics Federation (IAF) as
on this day. He is also the first Indian again to achieve
such a feat.
- January 26, 2017: He was
honoured with PADMA VIBHUSHAN Award by the
Govt of India.
