- 2004: He participated in
the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics.
- 2006: At the 2006 Asian
Games in Doha, he managed to win the bronze medal, which was
the first international medal for him.
- August 20, 2008: He won the
Bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics at Beijing in the
middleweight boxing category, having lost in the semifinals.
This was India's first-ever Olympic medal in boxing.
- 2009: The International
Boxing Association (AIBA) announced Vijender as the
top-ranked boxer in its annual middleweight category list
with 2800 points.
- 2009: He won a bronze medal
at the World Amateur Boxing Championships.
- 2010: He won the Gold Medal
in 5th Common Wealth Boxing Championship 2010 held in New
Delhi.
