- This day encourages motorists to give up their car for a day.
- Organized events are held in some cities and countries.

the roads around the globe, which makes virtually impossible
for us to escape the pollution, noise and danger that they
produce.
- So this one day encourages the use of cycling, walking
or using public transport instead.
- Many big cities close their central roads on this
day and fill them with walking and cycling events, and
smaller car-free events take place around the world.
- News from Gurgaon, India:
- With effect from September 22, 2016, the Millennium
City of Gurgaon in the State of Haryana, India,
will observe every Tuesday as Car Free Day in order to
encourage people to use alternate modes of transport.
