December 22, 1949:
According to some, he belongs to a specific tradition of
Hindutva politics in Uttar Pradesh that can be traced back
to the Mahant Digvijay Nath, who led the capture of the
Babri Masjid in Ayodhya for Hindus on this day.
September 12, 2014: He
renounced his family at the age of 21 and became a disciple
of Mahant Avaidyanath, then the head priest of Gorakhnath
Math (his spiritual father). He was promoted to the rank of
Mahant of Guru Gorakhnath Temple, following the death of
Mahant Aavaidyanath on this day.
September 14, 2014: He was
made Peethadhishwar of Gorakhnath Temple amid traditional
rituals of the Nath sect on this day.
January 03, 2016: On this
day, a day after the terrorist attack on an Indian air force
base in Pathankot allegedly by Pakistani terrorists, he had
said, "The Pathankot attack has once again proved that Satan
could change for the better but Pakistan cannot".
March 19, 2017: He was
appointed as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, India.
March 21, 2017: He was
sworn in as Chief MInister of Uttar Pradesh on this day.
General
His birth name is Ajay Singh Bisht.
He was a prominent campaigner for BJP (Bhartiya Janata
Party) in the 2017 UP Assembly elections, which were
thoroughly won by BJP with three fourth majority.
He has been the Member of Parliament from the Gorakhpur
constituency, Uttar Pradesh for five consecutive terms since
1998.
He is also the founder of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, a
militant youth organisation.
