Dr. C.V. Raman, Bharat Ratna (1954) - Nobel Laureate in Physics
(1930).
He discovered on February 28, 1928 that when light traverses a
transparent material, some of the deflected light changes in
wavelength. This phenomenon is now called Raman scattering and
is the result of the Raman effect.
