Mehmood Ali Khan (29 September 1932 - 23 July 2004), popularly known simply as Mehmood, was an Indian actor, director and producer best known for playing roles in Hindi films.

During his career of more than decades, he worked in over 300 Hindi films.

His sister, Minoo , was also a successful dancer and character actress in Bollywood movies.

He was hired to teach to Meena Kumari in those days. He later married her sister .

His first break as both a director and an actor was Bangla with actress . This movie paved the way for Mehmood to succeed as the most successful Bollywood comedian.

Amitabh Bachchan was a for 11 months at the Mehmood Outhouse from 1967–1968 and again from 1972-1973 (4 Months).

He died in his sleep on 23 July 2004 in Pennsylvania, US, where he had gone for treatment of disease.

Mehmood's son Ali is a singer and composer who has also acted in films.

Some of his very famous Bollywood songs are 'Ek naar' from film Padosan, 'Aao Karen' from Bhoot Bangla, 'Yeh do dil ke' from Johar Mehmood in Goa, 'Hum kaale hai to kyaa huaa dilwaale hain' from Gumnaam and so on.

He received the Filmfare Best Actor Award for Dil Tera and Filmfare Best Award twice for films and for .

He was second of the children of his parents.
