11.  Laws to Live

Loss of faith in the ballot

Forces some people to rely on bullets

Which can only pierce the hearts

And not in any way reunite the hearts.

There are two classes of people from the point of money-

Those who cannot keep in their own hands their money

And those who cannot keep from others’ hands their money.

For all these people money will flow away like lost honey.

It is no matter where a man resides,

But he should not live in a fool’s paradise,

Nor should he his existence jeopardize,

A sensible man would need this advice.

Donations are said to skyrocket.

Who knows they come from which rocket

And go into which pocket ?

Sorry to say, for this there is no docket.

Freedom cannot be bestowed,

It must truly be achieved.

That is how India became free;

It has to continue to be free.

The less men think the more they talk,

The more they talk the less they walk

To the end they want to reach

Which they may perhaps fail to reach.

Let us first think of our own infirmities

And then we can tolerate others’ proclivities.

It is far better to be accommodative

Than it is to be provocative.

It is easy to understand a truth once discovered;

The point is how it can be discovered.

People are hunting for hidden truths;

They are sure to fail to discover all the truths.

Men in uniform are the worst sufferers now.

To whom should they abjectly bow-

To the Government who is their master

Or to the mob which is a monster?

Debate in parliament is a mud-slinging exercise,

No malignant demon can it exorcise

What a deplorable wastage of time and money!

Nobody enjoys it like sweet honey.

Some people resort to sycophancy

In order to continue their occupancy

Of the chair that they retain

With peoples’ favour that they maintain.

Truth is confirmed by inspection and reasoning;

Falsehood is accepted in haste and assuming

That what is apparent is wholly true,

But the whole thing will finally be proved untrue
