Everyman has certain causes for lamentation
Or certain moments of dejection
But to dwell on them is unproductive;
To clear them you have to be mentally active.
It is a poor heart that never rejoices;
A strong heart rejoices when occasion arises.
But occasions do not come in cheap
Nor do they come in a heap.
Why should you think of a hell beyond this world?
If you have eye to see, it is already here in this world.
It is so filled with cruelty and torture
That it is a replica of Hell, be it a miniature.
To be moulded you want pliability;
To be believed you want credibility;
To be depended upon, you want reliability;
To be loved you want amiability.
Physical pain may be relieved by a balm
Which has to be applied by the palm.
Mental pain can be soothed by reading a psalm.
Which will make your mind calm.
In words let there be no ambiguity;
In actions let there be no incongruity;
In progress let there be continuity;
In faith let there be perpetuity.
Married life begins with a wedlock;
It should be built on a bed-rock.
What is this bed-rock but mutual love and trust
Without which the pleasures of life will turn to dust?
Birthdays come and go
Leaving memories of long ago,
Of chances lost, of unfinished tasks
And achievements made of which nobody asks.
The world will come to an end sooner or later;
But the spirit will not end, it has to go to its master.
Hence we have to concentrate on spiritual progress
Rather than we do on material progress.
We all like to live in tranquility
And to be free from all calamity.
This we can do with God’s help;
Nobody is sure to come to our help
