4.  The Master’s Ways

The sea is stormy, the waves are rolling,

The boat is rocking, the heart is breaking,

When will we reach our shore safely?

When can we unload our catch smoothly?

We are workers in God’s vineyard,

How will we earn a worthy reward?

We cannot question God’s measure,

We will have to earn His pleasure.

When you invest in the spiritual field

God will ensure you a proper yield.

The good things you do in God’s name

Are not intended to earn fame.

Should we let the weeds grow on the ground?

Or should we plough them out of the ground?

If we want new crops to grow

We can’t let the weeds too grow.

O God, the great sower that thou art,

Let not thy seeds fall on the barren part

Of the earth where they will not grow,

But may become food for the hungry crow.

You can’t serve God and mammon in the same way,

Either you serve God and keep mammon away,

Or you serve mammon and keep God away,

Beware; it all depends on your own chosen way.

Why should God allow saints to suffer

And sinners to unreasonably prosper?

In patient suffering God is glorified,

In ill –achieved prosperity God is defied.

The approach to heaven is not through a pavilion,

The pleasures of this world will have to sink into oblivion.

The way to heaven is biblically narrow,

The teaching of Christ we have to follow.

Man takes more than he gives

God takes less than He gives.

How much more should we give God?

How much more should we praise God?

God will be on your side

If you have no sin to hide.

Let not wealth be your pride,

Let truth and justice be your guide.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord

Even if you bear a heavy load.

God will help you all the way,

Never think of throwing it away.

As long as I live on this earth

I will sing the Lord’s song full of mirth.

“Blessed is thy name, dear Lord,

Blessed is the womb that gave thee birth”.
