There are war-mongers full of ill will,
There are peace-makers full of good will .
Who will succeed in their venture?
On that depends the world’s future.
Democracy is a system of self –determination
But it sometimes is a system of wrong determination.
Because some unworthy people get into the system
And some worthy people are thrown out of the system.
Heated controversy would generate too little light;
Cool fact-finding would shed more light
For facilitating resolution of a dispute
To which all concerned parties should contribute.
In disputes’ settlement some are for mediation,
Some others stand for facilitation,
Still others have a bit of hesitation
On what to do in a difficult situation.
People are speaking of dialogue as a means
Of settling disputes for want of any other means.
Dialogue with diplomacy is likely to work,
Dialogue with good will is more likely to work.
We can’t get rid of evil by forcible means;
We have to do so by peaceful means.
Use of force will leave hatred behind,
Peaceful approach can make change of mind.
Tolerance is the only real test of civilization,
Humanization is also a part of civilization.
In politics avoid all criminalization,
It may take a long time for its realization.
The weak supporting the strong in administration
Will end up in their own marginalization.
The strong have really no admiration
For the weak who suffer exploitation.
If there are rags –to-riches stories,
There are also riches- to -rags stories.
The former are instances of good fortune,
The latter are instances of misfortune.
Too many people are thinking of security,
They are not thinking so much of opportunity.
Security, of course, is needed for preservation of life;
But opportunity is needed for advancement of life.
There are peaceful revolutions
As well as violent revolutions.
Peaceful ones may turn things better
Violent ones will make things bitter.
Violence cannot be fought with violence;
It has to be fought with non-violence.
The spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation
Is what we want for peace and its consolidation.
The emphasis on urban industrialization
With the resulting marginalization
Of villages which have no development
Impairs the country’s total advancement.
Alcoholism is a very dangerous habit;
Is alcohol something you can prohibit?
The state and the public have a good share
In promoting alcoholism without any care.
Some people are interested in tourism
Because they have a bit of hedonism.
By tourism you get a better view of the world
Than by living in your narrow little world.
